| Wouldn't it be nice if we could just click on a button and be assured of our salvation? Unfortunately, God doesn't work that way. God makes it very clear in His word what a person needs to do to become a Christian. The book of Acts is a great book that demonstrates first hand how sinners were saved by Gods awesome plan of salvation! Here are a few stories you can read:
The Jailor and his family (Acts 16:25-34) The Crowd in Jerusalem (Acts 2:37-41) Saul who later had his name changed to Paul (Acts 9:1-11; 22:12-16) These are just a few of the accounts in the book of Acts where people got their lives right with God and made their eternal life secure through the blood of Jesus. To summarize the passages you just read, here is the path each person followed: First - they had to HEAR the good news about Jesus. The fact that He loves them and gave His life for them and how God raised Him from the dead! How Christ wants to save you from your sin and give you the promise of heaven for all eternity. After a person hears the news of Christ they must.. Second - they had to BELIEVE what they have heard. Bible belief always leads to obedience. If you really believe in Christ and His Word you will be willing to obey what He has asked you to do. A person who really believes will. Third - they had to REPENT of their sins. Repentance means to change your mind about the way you have been living. If you are a liar, you will stop lying and start telling the truth. You stop the sin in your life and start living a life that is God honoring. After a person repents they will. Fourth - they had to CONFESS Jesus as Lord of their life. Confession means to simply tell the truth about Christ. In Matt. 16:16 Peter said that Jesus was the Christ and Son of the living God. That is the confession we make of Christ.We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We also find that people who heard, believed, repented and confess were also. Fifth - they had to be BAPTIZED into Christ. Baptism is a burial in a water grave. When a person comes to Christ and is willing to die to their selfish will and surrender to God's will, they are buried in Christ. They are immersed in water and raised to walk in a new way of life. God promises to forgive their sin and give them the gift of the Holy Spirit to help them live for Him. According to scripture, this is what it means to be saved. Do you want to be saved?
